But the lengthy healing process can leave some patients feeling drained. If you’ve heard of all-on-4 dental implants, you’ve probably been intrigued by what they can offer. But how can these implants cut out months of healing and still be effective? Browse our tips on same day implants below, and get in touch if you don’t find answers to your questions. Dr. Zymantas wants every restorative patient to be as informed as possible before beginning any kind of treatment.

How All-On-4 Implants Heal

All implants connect with your jaw bone to form a new structural support for implants. The titanium screws replace missing tooth roots. Once they’ve integrated with your bone, they’re ready to support crowns, a bridge, or a denture. But in order to heal properly, traditional implants require months of protection and healing. Only then can the restorations be placed.

Another restriction on standard implants is the availability of bone tissue. Adequate bone mass must be present at the implant site in order for the implant to succeed. More bone tissue meanas a stronger, more stable implant – but if it’s been some time since tooth loss, bone loss has likely also occurred.

Many patients find these requirements (understandably) inconvenient. All-on-4 implants address both stipulations with a few unique features:

  • Fewer implants are necessary for full arch replacement – With the All-on-4 system, as few as four implants can be placed to support a full arch (either the upper or lower jaw) of restorations. These implants are precisely placed to offer maximum support. The accompanying restorations are also engineered to support one another and encourage stable healing. The implants are at a unique angle that leads to restorative success without making your new teeth look or feel any different.
  • Accompanying restorations do not disturb implant healing – Restorations are shaped so that biting and chewing forces are evenly distributed and do not disturb implants. These implants must remain immobile for proper healing, so their lack of any shock or disruption is crucial. Patients also follow a soft diet for the first 6-8 weeks after placement to help encourage successful healing.
  • Therefore, implants can heal with restorations in place throughout the entire process. Patients can smile and live their lives while gaining new teeth along the way. And since they’re not replacing every missing tooth with an implant, they’re also saving money on restoration.

To find out if you’re a candidate for all-on-4 implants, just schedule a consultation – we will take x-rays, examine your mouth, and tell you more.
