Wisdom Tooth Extraction

Wisdom teeth are often problematic. Because they aren’t very useful in biting or chewing, and because they are likely to cause dental concerns, it’s common to have wisdom teeth extracted. If Dr. Zymantas recommends an extraction, your wisdom teeth are likely impacted, meaning they will not erupt properly and could damage surrounding teeth and your bite. Removing wisdom teeth also helps reduce your risk of cavities and gum disease.

Naperville wisdom tooth extractionThe procedure is typically performed before your wisdom teeth are fully developed, to simplify the surgery and the healing process. If you think it might be time for your adolescent to have their teeth extracted, or a member of your family is experiencing wisdom tooth pain, schedule an appointment.

Dental Sedation for Oral Surgery

We understand that oral surgery can cause dental anxiety, especially in patients already nervous about the dentist’s office. Premier Dental offers comprehensive sedation dentistry to accommodate patients of every comfort level. If you’re afraid of having a tooth pulled, let us know that you’d like to learn more about dental sedation.

We make the following types of sedation available to our patients:

  • IV/Twilight – IV sedation induces relaxation during your procedure. It is delivered intravenously for the duration of  your surgery. You will not experience pain or remember most of the appointment. This is ideal for patients with strong anxiety.
  • Oral conscious – Taken as a pill, this medication will be prescribed before your appointment date. Take the sedation prior to your procedure to be free of nerves by the time you’re in the dental chair.
  • Nitrous oxide – The most well-known form of sedation, nitrous is inhaled during your surgical procedure to induce a state of calm.

Remember, if you are ever receiving sedation at an appointment, you will need to arrange a ride home from the procedure, as it will not be safe for you to drive.
